Default F350 1999 7.3 6 speed Clutch pedal to high

Question - Just got this big girl and has an issue that I cant seem to quite understand.

The clutch pedal rides high Im guessing about 4in. So I looked for a stop but there is none. I noticed that the rod that goes into the cylinder is just hanging, is that normal or is there a lock missing? Also, to engage the clutch fully its almost all the way to floor (maybe an inch from floor)..

Ive attached a couple images that look suspect to me....

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

If you think you're confused, move over, I'm right there with you.
I had to turn my screen upside down to look for something familiar.
So we are on the same page,
when the clutch is all the way up with your foot off the pedal the clutch is engaged.
When you depress the pedal to the floor it is supposed to disengage the clutch.
Usually there is a rubber bumper that the pedal arm contacts when you take your foot off the pedal. That is supposed to limit the upward travel of the pedal . Look for a hole on the pedal mounting assy where the bumper may be missing. There should be no loose parts with the clutch linkage. When the linkage is adjusted correctly there should be about one to one and a half inches of free travel (before you feel any resistance). When the adjustment is somewhere near correct the clutch should start to cause the vehicle to move when it is about half way up from the floor. Depending on how much wear is on the disc some will grab closer to the top of pedal travel.

ha, It was awkward taking the pictures...
I looked for a rubber bumper before I posted but I don't see anywhere I can add one. No holes on clutch pedal.
I did however remove the helper spring and that dropped down the pedal where its supposed to be but instead of kneeing the steering wheel now im getting a workout pushing the pedal in.

Where would the bumper go and what does it stop on?

Does the bumper attach to the front above or below the spring?

I just don't see a place for one.....

It wouldn't be mounted on the pedal arm itself ,but on a stationary part of the supports for the steering column.
This particular item gives very little problem, so any memory in my bank is practically non-existant. If you can check with any Ford dealer parts dept and they should either be able to show you a pix or maybe even have the necessary parts you might require.
Wish I could be of more help .

That helps. At least I know where not to look!

Thx -

Ill look for a "missing" part(s) where the pedal should stop - not on the pedal itself....

I don't see any place to mount a stop. I even called Ford and they said its hydraulic and it doesn't need one but they cant tell from the images on his system. Last image is a slave I assume.

If you look at where the pedal arm is presently stopping ,there should be a pedal stop.
It has to be stopped by something. Wherever it is hitting should be an adjustable round stop that you can adjust to have it stop in the best place. There is always the possibility it has fallen out , but I doubt it.

Well There should be no reduce areas with the clutch i465 black linkage. When the linkage is modified properly there should be about one to one and a 50 percent inches wide of free journey (before you experience any resistance). When the modification is somewhere near appropriate the clutch i465 black should begin to cause the automobile to shift when it is about 50 percent way up from the ground. Based on how much use is on the disk some will get nearer to the top of your pedal journey. . . .

From what I understand now is that when you install the pushrod into the cylinder for the 1st time it snaps into place permanently.

I guess the pushrod pulled out and broke whatever is holding it into the cylinder. Temporarily, I have attached a bracket on the clutch assembly to stop it from riding up too far. I think it causes other problems like cruise control not working.

Thanks for the help…
