Fuel pump or not

Fuel pump or not
Here is our problem . The power switch for the passenger front window was switched after the window wouldn’t go Up anymore ( tried the master switch in drivers side didn’t work either )Husband replaced the front with the back one. We noticed that the car started to run real funky and tried to die while the switcharoo was going on. As we drove off we had a misfire but only one. Went on freeway ran fine for about 15 minutes then car died and would not start anymore , needless to say we had to get towed . Hubby noticed that the hose underneath IAC valve was lost so we replaced that one . Car ran for about 2 minutes and died again. Checked all fuses and relays they are all ok . Then checked if the fuel pump was working , hubby could feel the fuel going to the filter then nothing anymore . Changed the fuel filter still doing the same . Bought a new fuel pump but before we exchange we would like to know if there could be something else . Any help is appreciated !!!! We are stuck away from home and still have to go 1400 miles . Oh it is a 97 expedition XLT 5.4L

Welcome to the site..
Sometimes you need to prove out what it’s not before before moving ahead. Pump is a common fail more so if high mileage. Before replacing a pump it’s a good practice to check for spec fuel pressure and volume out on the Schrader valve on the fuel rail ( looks like a metal tire valve stem).
Another quick test to check pump run is to remove the fuel cap and have someone cycle the key On,, the pump run hum should be heard for a few seconds. Or, from under the truck at the tank bottom. Usually if a helper is cycling the key On and checking under the hood, you can hear fuel relay and sometimes fuel pressure bleed at the rail pressure regulator.
But to know the pumps health and run activation, checking at the Schrader with a test gauge is about the only way to know for sure. A pump can sound ok, and still not manage to make spec values.. Can be noisy too as they end their life and still function, or, start to fall off on delivery and/or quit. In those cases a sharp thump on the tanks underside can create a run, sometimes not...
If you can test it at the Schrader,,
Key On, Engine Off. 35-45 PSI (pump run is timed)
Running 28-45 PSI
