Default Help! 2013 Ford Escape SE? Dipstick length and true oil capacity?

The owner's manual for my 2013 says that my 2013 Ford Escape 2013 (1.6 liter engine) requires 4.3 quarts (with oil filter change).

I've taken my car to Jiffy Lube, and they acknowledged that it requires 4.3 quarts. But I checked the oil later, and they overfilled it.

The next oil change, I took my car to the Ford dealer. Surely they can do it right. Again, they overfilled it.

So II did the oil change myself. I carefully drained the warmed engine for a couple of hours. I carefully filled it with exactly 4.3 quarts of oil using a measuring cup and installed a new filter. That also overfilled it!

I cannot imagine what the problem can be.

Then it just occurred to me that, maybe the previous owner put in an aftermarket dip stick in (that is too long). Does anybody know how long the dipstick should be for this vehicle? Or where I can find out this information?

Any and all advice, suggestions, insights, etc. are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Just touching the bases,

You are having the vehicle on a level surface and not jacked up when doing the check ?

By how much does it appear overfilled ?

Yes, I was parked on a level surface when I checked the oil. I've been working on my own vehicles since 1970.

Assuming that the "high" and "low" marks on the dipstick is one quart, then in look to be about 1/3 quart overfilled.

I would call Ford and ask how much a dipstick for my particular engine would cost.

If what I believe to be worth it, would order the correct dipstick and compare it to the one I presently have and go from there.
