Cool 98 Expedition key programming

I just had a key made for my 98 expedition, which does have the electronics in the key. So that key won't start the car. Can I used the above procedure to program the key, or do I have to pay a dealer $105?

What is the specific 98 expedition key programming procedure if there is one or a link to one?

Default programming focus keys

I have a 2003 Focus and on a 2004 Freestar.

Since I lost one set of keys I just got new keys for both of them from a dealer. The procedure using two existing keys worked fine for the Freestar but I can't get it to work for the Focus.

I have looked up the procedure on the web and some sites say you need two original keys and others say two previously programmed keys.

My question is does anyone know whether the two keys you use for the programming procedure have to be programmed by the dealer or can you use ones you have programmed yourself?

Thanks

Default and for 98 expedition too

Yes, hope it works for your focus. Anyone know how to do it with a 98 expedition. I may be screwed as I only have one functioning programed key.

If you only have 1 programmed key, you will need a scan tool to access the security module to program the new key.

Default key programmers

There are a lot of key programmers on ebay for about $300. Does anyone have a recommended kind of programmer that works good on fords? How easy is it to use these devices? Is there a published how-to guide to demystify this and spell out exactly what to do?

Hello, I have one original

Volkswagen Audi Group software for car diagnostic, VAG software, BMW software, Mercedes software, , , , ,

It is the best device and software you can get on the market. Its made in Europe and fits most Ford and some Mazda as well. Moreover, it can be sent back for software updates always for the newest for FREE.

The original price is 3,500 EUR if you order from them. I have one on sale for 2,200 EUR+postal charges.

If you are interested send me an email to
dreamcars2005@yahoo.com

I can send you photos as well.

Everybody is right, sort of. Depending on the year model, some fords can add a new key by the proceedure stated above. With two programmed keys in hand, you can add another and repeat the process up to 8 keys. After about '98 you hneed a scan tool just to activate that option. If the vehicle has less than two keys programmed into it, it WILL NOT START. It will give a trouble code stating "only one key programmed". Tonight I am looking online for a certain scan tool that the locksmith has been using to activate keys for us at our shop. It's made by strattec, the same folks who make the keys. He is charging us about 75 bucks each time but at least he comes to us. The tool says strattec on the front but I can't remember the rest of the name on it. The dealer will make spare keys that are already activated for about 40 bucks. Still you have to go through the security wait period with the scanner to set them up to the car. Got to surf away. Good luck folks!
