how to put resistor on 87 f350
Hi guys I have a 87 ford f350 with the 6.9 NON TURBO diesel. I have been hauling a 6k pound pintle hook equipment trailer with 12k pounds of weight on it. The truck pulls it good considering it doesnt have turbo but I ordered a resistor mod for the truck and its telling me to wire it in with the IAT sensor or the maf sensor. I'm not going to act like I know what I'm doing because I dont. I live in the country not near a garage worth driving to. The instructions says it is idiot proof but apparently im an idiot. I called the guy that i ordered it from and he said liik on the air cleaner somewhere for the sensor but my truck doesnt have any on it. How do I hook this up? does someone have a picture or diagram of my motor that would show where it goes. Thanks guys I know probally one of the more retarded questions asked but i've been looking for it all night and im stumped.. THANKS!

I would like to help you out, but you need to enlighten me as to just what kind of resistor you are working with. What is it supposed to do?
I am pretty sure there is no such thing as a maf sensor on that engine.
What were you trying to accomplish with this resistor?

Shane, I typed a whole explanation of why I question this "resistor", but my stupid browser lost it and I'm fuming why I have to type it again.
Could you please post the info as stated by the company that is selling this resistor and how it is supposed to give more pulling power.

Ok here it goes lol...
PERFORMACE CHIP INSTRUCTIONS.
GAIN MORE HP AND MPG
1.Always dissconect your battery.
2.Locate and unplug the IAT sensor
3.Bend the resistor to a u shape.
4.Be very careful and connect the ressistor "DTPC" to the sensor connector like the Illistration below
5.Leave the IAT sensor disconnected and cover and secure it with black electrical tape.
6.Reconect your battery and test out your performance chip.
PLEASE READ** MOST OF YOU WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENT SENSOR ON YOU VEHICLE EITHER CALLED MAP, MAT, AIT, MAF BUT IT WILL STILL BE ASSOCTIATED WITH THE AIT SENSOR...
This is what the paper they sent says.. I e-mailed the guy on ebay and told him what truck i had and everything and he garuntteed the chip to work but i cant find the sensor i took my truck to a mechanic yesterday he said he doesnt see the AIT sensor so idk what to do.. I probally got screwed in the deal
Thanks for all your help

I'm trying to be objective here, but something tells me whoever is selling this "chip" is not being entirely truthful.
Since your engine doesn't even have anything like what he is telling you , it might be a wise move to return the whole package and get your money back , if possible.
Not knowing the condition of your diesel, number miles etc. have you considered checking with an International Dealership parts and service dept and see if it is possible to install different fuel injectors to get the results you seek.
Good maintenance and depending on the mileage on the engine , injectors should be replaced with rebuilt International injectors after 100,000 - 150,000 miles.
It might cost some to do this , but from my experience with diesel truck engines this would be the better way to go , if funds permit.
Quick gimmicks usually are just that, gimmicks.
I believe you have a Stadium International dealer either in Binghamton or Olyphant.
