Default Need Help please 1995 Ford f250 disel

Hello my name is Stacy and I am 48 years old. I live in Seabeck Washington. My fiancee Dan and I bought our Landlords 1995 Ford f250 XLT power stroke turbo 4 4 automatic 7.3 diesel truck. To make a long story short I drained the tranny fluid cleaned the pan and magnet ect. Anyways now the truck starts and runs but won't move. I wanted to know if I could shift the truck where the transmission arm is at right there while my fiancee steps on the brake so truck will go. Can you do that ? I am just learning about vehicles. The only thing I really know about are freeze plugs spark plugs and wires. Anyways I hope someone can help us. Thank you

If you are thinking about being under the truck with the motor running, FORGET THAT NOT SAFE !

Did you remove/disturb anything when you had the pan down?
Did you remove the filter ? Yes/no
Please be as specific as you can.

Make sure they sold you the correct filter. 4x4 had a deeper pan with a longer neck on the filter. 4x2 was a shorter version.

If you did not have this problem before doing anything , please tell us everything you did..

Somebody did something they shouldn't have or you would not have trouble with the linkage. Since we can't see from here, we need to rely on what you tell us..

It is either that or you need a shop to come out and look at it..
