Angry Rodent problem

HELP!! Seems I had a steering assist FAULT warning on my 2017 F-150 ( NO POWER STREERING ). Got it to my dealer and was advised that a RODENT chewed on the wires under the hood
They said NOT fords fault so $400 it will cost me. Does anyone have an idea how to keep them OUT from under the hood? Having no garage I think they are squirrels or mice that are doing it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the site..

Our local tractor store sells a product that’s in bags/pouches. They’re available at quite a few parts houses and vendors. You can tie them to, or pack them in tight areas, trouble areas etc and the mice and rats stay away for about 3 months per pouch. They, John Deere started using ‘hemp’ wire wrap and quickly found out the mice are dining on the ‘green’ wrap.

They’ve eaten my vans heater hoses, my dozers coolant lines, and chewed wires on my trailers. But usually easy fixes unlike vehicle harness..

Had 3K dollars worth of damage done to my V10 triton engine on my motorhome done by a rodent. This is what I do, take a few empty small cans,, put about a half dozen cotton ***** in each can, add pure peppermint oil to the cotton *****, carefully place the cans in the engine compartment. Of course make sure your placement does not interfere with any of the moving parts and they will stay put when driving. Rodents hate the smell of pure peppermint oil. For info regarding purchasing pure peppermint oil go to Amazon. Hope this gets rid of your problem

We've used peppermint oil in our RV cabinets/drawers in the past. They liked to nest there. With it on board,, everywhere you go it will smell like Christmas

I reside in my RV full time so I do not have a problem with them in that way, however I put a can as I described in every one of my storage compartments and refresh the oil every month.
