Default 1940 Tudor

Hello everyone!

I have a 40 ford tudor deluxe that I am planning on doing a restomod if that the correct terminology. Look original from outside minus the trim (smooth lines) and the interior will be update. The engine tranny is undecide at the moment. Looking for something for long commutes that is supper efficient. So far I have thought about a cummins 4bt, diesel tractor engine 3.0-3.9 liter, and a VW 1.9 ALH engine. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Look forward to some good conversations.

Have you thought about the 2.3/ 2.5 ranger drive train? Those should be easy to find and fairly easy to transplant.

What year ranger does that come out of and how hard will it be to setup? (Computer?) I was sticking with the diesels due to them being 100% mechanical with the exception of the VW and the low end torque/ fuel economy that they get weather loaded or unloaded.

I have not done a transplant. The electrical would scare me a little as well. But if you get a whole truck and use all the truck's parts it should work.
The http://www.therangerstation.com/ has lots of info on Ford Ranger of any year.

If you feel more comfortable with Diesel than that's the way to go.
Aren't the VWs FWD?

Yes but there is a 5 speed rwd transmission that can mount to it. Just have to mount 90 degrees from original. If that makes sense.

It makes sense. And VW engines are extremely fuel efficient.
