Was up fellas I need help I recently rebuilt my 5.4 had a rod bearing blow and now it takes like 50 turns for the truck to start new fuel pump, fuel pump driver module, starter , battery, crankshaft, .002 bore new pistons, rings, chains and tensioners, ford phasers with lockouts and vvt delete tune, valves valve seats crank, cam and throttle position sensors, melling HV oil pump and plugs and packs…. I’m at my wits end I only unhooked two grounds when pulling the motor the on on the computer and harness and the one to the firewall and passenger cylinder head there both hooked up. When the truck starts it runs great!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank yall

When it finally starts, did you notice if there was any black smoke coming out the exhaust?
If after the first attempt to start the engine , what do one or two of the spark plugs look like, wet or dry?
That will tell us if fuel is getting in there right away or not.
We don't like to use starting fluid because most folks use too much and that can destroy pistons. If you have carb and choke cleaner , that is close to gasoline and doesn't do damage..
A shot of carb and choke cleaner into the intake will help for faster starting if there is a fuel problem on start up.

I’ve tried cycling the key it makes no difference fuel pressure in the rail is good
We now know fuel is getting in there.
What we need to verify next is........are we getting spark to the plugs when first attempting to start the engine.
Before replacing anything we need to start at the crank sensor and verify it is sending the signal to the PCM.
Unless you want to spend a lot of $$ hoping to hit the problem early by replacing parts, it would be a better move to have someone with a capable scan tool do some tests and identify the problem area.
