The A/C only works when i have my foot on the gas, as soon as I let off the engine dies. Anyone have any ideas?

 

Are you saying that with the A/C off there is no problem?

 

Correct. With the A/C off there is no problem.

 

When the additional load of the A/C compressor is placed on the engine, the signal from the A/C controls tell the PCM and the PCM will increase idle speed to make up for the increased load. That is one system that would have to be checked out.
A vacuum leak that is present when the air system is turned on could be another cause.

 

If it's killing the engine, see if the compressor is seizing up. I can imagine a tensioner keeping the belt that tight.
Otherwise, I (of course) agree with Hanky. If the compressor is ok, then scan for codes.
