car is cutting out

Default car is cutting out

hoping for some help 2004 freestar got in my car today as i was driving it was cutting out, at the stop light it died drove fine for a minute then started gutting out and making a squeeling like a pully bearing. started ticking almost like binding up looked under hood sounded like comming area of belt when it would make a noise it would cut out went got gas it died again got on freeway it was fine car sat all day got back in driving it died was squeeling and cutting out then it was running fine again this has me very concerned.

If you can, using the belt tensioner, loosen the belt and remove it from the easiest pulley you can reach. Then try to turn the pulleys the belt turns and you may find one of the pulleys is either noisy or very hard to turn. The main drive pulley is on the lowest part of the engine (crankshaft pulley) and that one you should not be able to move. All the others are movable and should move fairly easily and quietly. Whichever one is rough or difficult to turn would most likely be the culprit.
