Default Ford 500 noise issue.

Hello I am Fred. I am 68 and have been driving Fords off and onsince 1972 Gran Torino wagon and 1974 Pinto wagon. For the most part I have been happy with Ford automobiles. In 2005 I bought a brand new Ford 500 after talking with several friends and people who said the car was highly rated. In a little over three years I have driven it 47580 miles and have gotten very decent gas mileage. Once over thirty miles to the gallon on a trip from St Louis to Chattanooga, over 500 miles. So I am pretty happy with the service and performance of the car.

My issue is noise in the car when I am driving. I can hear every crack and pebble on the highway and the hum of the tires on the pavement.I can hear the constant hum of the engine above the sound of the tires. I can hear the airflow past the windows even though they are closed tightly. The irony is that I am hard of hearing,...... in the high frequency ranges. But all of the low frequency noises come through loud and clear,,,,,,, too loud and clear.

Does any other Ford 500 owners have this problem or is my car not properly insulated againest outside noise?
Let me hear from some of the other owners out there. When the time comes for a new car I think my next one will be a Buick.

How about a Lincoln? Stay in the Ford family.
