I have a 1999 f250 super duty with a 5.4 l engine. It has the XL trim package. What I'm experiencing is that the gem module is making a consistent ticking noise. Basically sounds like the second hand on a clock but slightly faster. I have checked all fuses and relays as well as redone many ground wires all over the truck.
The symptoms that I'm having is essentially that the windshield wipers and pump are not working now.
The interior light stopped working a while back and I can't figure that out either so I'm not sure if that's connected to this.
The horn and some other gem controlled stuff works.
I really need to get my windshield wipers up and running.
Should I remove the gem module and take it to the local record to replace it? One mechanic said it was a fetz relay which I don't know what that is. I checked the relays.
There may be something going on with the wiper motor itself.
The park function may be trying to park the wipers , but may be is prevented from doing so.
If GEM is bad more than likely all the attached devices would be malfunctioning. That's why check Wiper_Washer_Electrical.pdf and Wiper_Relay first. You still haven't downloaded the PDFs I submitted previously.

No need to be rude. I did download them on my phone and as I already stated, all fuses and relays were checked. I am looking for insight into the GEM modules ticking noise. I already stated that some gem controlled features are still working ie. Horn and chime. Please read my replies thanks...
Exactly, that's why you MUST check Wiper_Washer_Electrical.pdf, look at diagram 81-2 there. For diagnostic purpose, you do NOT need GEM to bench test the wiper. You also do NOT need the relay. That pdf you can see all the wirings so you can test the connection on a particular circuit, look at circuit 686 (T/R).
Below is diagram for C239, the GEM's connector view, you still need to know where GEMs are connected to, the relevant ones can all be found in Wiper_Washer_Electrical.pdf.
Before you buy another GEM, you have to test for bad wirings. Whatever is not working test those first, and just ignore the ticking sound for now since that might not even be originated from the GEM itself.
How about you just go ahead and buy a used GEM or get your GEM repaired online, put the GEM back and it gets fired again or you still hear the ticking sound? Then you toss out another few hundred bucks and get it repaired twice? You wouldn't want that to happen that's why you joined this forum and hopefully the GEM is still good, just a bad wirings, and swapping out the GEM is your very last resort, if you don't think you can disassemble the GEM and check/fix whatever internally, then do the best you can externally (the wirings) and spend $0.
