G'day all , I'm already a member of a vibrant Aussie based Ford Forum that deals primarily with our cars but I thought it was time to join also a forum in the home of the Blue Oval in the USA .I discovered this one , looks like a ton of fun and hope to be an active contributor over time..Unfortunately Ford Australia ceases local manufacturing on October 7th this year . We have been building Fords here since 1925..This is really sad.. The mainstay of Ford Australia , especially since 1960 has been the Ford Falcon. After 1970-71 when Ford U.S. discontinued the Falcon , we designed and built our own version and the mighty Falcon has become an Aussie legend..From 1960 to 1972 we had the same platform as the U.S. Falcon..Ford built the following models , Falcon , Futura , Fairmont , Fairmont Ghia , Fairlane , Landau , and LTD..among others as well as the performance arms called XR , Tickford and FPV..The Ford Falcon GT and the F6 Typhoon are more recently primarily Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) but Ford has built the GT outright too of course at times in Falcon history and the XR Series are built directly by Ford..It's pretty involved as you'd imagine after 56 continuous years of Falcons..Not only Falcon of course but Territory SUV , Focus , Taurus for a while , Escort , Lazer , Explorer , Fiesta type vehicles F Series trucks, Telstar , Mondeo /Fusion. Others too. Best sellers for Ford now are Ranger,Mustang , Kuga and Everest I believe..With the end of Falcon and Territory all Fords here will be imported. The new Mustang has a 15-18 month pre order wait time in Right Hand Drive..is doing well indeed..I have owned several Fords , all terrific and own a 2001 AU Series ll Futura Classic with the litre 4.0 SOHC inline 6 and now also have a 2008 FG Mk1 XR6 with the mighty 4 litre DOHC Barra inline 6..The Turbo version is an absolute beast of the first order and puts out so much torque/power it's ridiculous..Mine is the N/A one and still goes crazy..it runs the German ZF Adaptive Sports Shift..the FG range was the second to last model design , the last one is the FGX.
