Hello my name is David. I live in Kansas and am dealing with a Ford Nightmare!

I have a 2001 Ford WIndstar VIN # 2FMZA51451ba80064 with a bad trans.
wont do anything, shift or go into park
Started it, made a loud screech and shut it of, restarted and trans does nothing

So I bought 1999 Ford Windstar with a bad motor VIN # 2fmza5245xbc04931
with a bad motor for 200

Will the trans cross over or am I wasting my time?
PLEASE any help is appreciated

 

I don't know right off hand if the trans is compatible, but why don't you consider this, drop the trans pan on the 2001and look inside. It could be something simple like the manual lever becoming disconnected or something you can see right away as the problem. While looking at the linkage and having someone attempting to shift the selector you may be able to see what is causing the problem. It would be a lot easier to fix something simple instead of swapping transmissions.
They did have problems with the flywheel flexplate, you might want to check that too.
