Default Key Fob range

I just bought an Ecosport SES a few weeks ago. I am disappointed with the key fob range. If I lose my car it will be in a huge parking lot not a small one, I would not be able to locate my car unless I am right on top of it making it worthless. Did the Ford engineers not realize this or am I mistaken? My fob tested is about 50 to 60 feet, on my old chevy it was well over 200ft.

Thanks.

You didn't say anything about the battery condition in the FOB. Have you tried a new fresh battery in the FOB?

It's a new car so I would assume it's a new battery. Are you saying your Ford key fob has a long range?

No , not exactly, but we learn not to assume anything.
It is better to replace the FOB battery with a fresh one and be SURE it wasn't something simple.
There are all kinds of possibilities and sometimes it is a simple fix and once those are eliminated we move on to the more detailed/complicated possibilities.

Does both the fobs produce the same results?
And, are the performance/distances and ops the same at all angles approaching the car? The system has multiple antennas. Try a test in an open lot, without heavy parked vehicle congestion, or added radio interferences, cell chargers, high power devices etc. Is the distance the same?

I tested both fobs and they both work about the same, and both work oddly. When i try to lock car at about 50 ft it MIGHT work, then without moving car does not lock or open at the same distance. If I then move closer, 10 paces closer or so it works. That to me indicates that the batteries are weak, so weak they work once at at certain distance but have to get closer for them to work again unless I wait several minutes so the battery gets enough strength. I could be wrong. The service guy did not have a clue about range and went to check only tell he still does not know LOL I guess I cann buy those Cr2450 batteries any where. When I have time I will test with a new battery.

I decided to get a new battery quickly and here are the results. It works the same, the range is about 60 ft or so which is ridiculous. In a huge parking lot the car finder is WORTHLESS. I called another Ford dealer and the guy told me 60 ft or so is normal. Wow, that makes no sense to me. I guess the Ford engineers have reasons for this or they are not very bright. Thanks for your quick replies.
