Default New Guy here with questions!

Here os that sensor
Hey All,
Im a new guy to the forums and have been lurking for a couple of weeks now. I'm hoping someone can help me out as i am new to Fords and am a little lost with these engines. I just picked up a 1996 E-350 and it has a rich condition. So first i put my scan tool on it and it powers my scanner but i get "No Link" I checked pin 4 and 16 on the DLC and i have ground and power but still "no Link" so i am unable to get codes. Any Ideas on what could be the problem?

Second I have a cracked exhaust Manifold on the drivers side. would this cause a rich condition?

And Third. i definitely have some sensor that has several (3 or 4) connections, that sits at the top of the rear of the engine (inside under the doghouse) that is missing a vacuum line. Does anyone have a diagram of the routing of vacuum lines so i can try to figure out what this sensor is and what it is missing? when i get home i will post a picture..

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Everyone.

Welcome to the site...

Sounds like the MAP sensor.. Manifold Absolute Pressure. Image would help..
If the MAP is unplugged, it can produce a rich condition.. Missing/removed hose generates an unmetered vacuum source as well, and the PCM will try and correct the lean condition by adding more fuel to correct fuel/air ratio. The cracked manifold has the potential to pull in air causing the O2's to read/range incorrect..

I believe the item in the pix is an intake vacuum source, but not positive.
What engine, hard to tell from what I could see.
Could you provide the 8th digit of the VIN ?
What build date is on the door sticker?

So the intake manifold says 5.8 efi. It is a 1996 as VIN position is "T" . And door build date says 12/96

As for the picture, if i cover up that vacuum line it shuts off immediately. Where should that open line be connected to?

Oooops that's the 10th position vin digit. i'll check on 8th position when i get home. But i am confident its the 5.8 EFI.

Problem solved. I capped the line and it would stumble and shut off. Someone lowered the idle since it was running high with the uncapped line. I adjusted the idle screw gave it a tune up and she runs like new. Thanks for all the help.
