Default Shift lever on 2010 ford focus

Twice my shift lever will not leave park after starting car. At that time i have no brake light, electric lock,or radio. I've tried a couple of things I've read about from other sites to no avail. I disconnect the negative cable from battery wait afew reconnect and walla all is good. What gives?

There is a solenoid that must be activated to allow the shift lever to come out of the park position .
That solenoid gets it's power from the stoplight switch when you step on the brake pedal.
Either one of the following could be why it won't respond,
* Fuse for stop lights has opened
* stoplight switch is defective or needs to be adjusted
* Problem with any of the items the fuse protects

Because more than just the stoplights have been affected, I would suspect the fuse.

If you look in your owner's manual , there is a diagram that shows which fuse and where it is located..
Fuses are there to protect the electrical circuit from destroying itself in the event power has found the wrong path.
First we replace the fuse and if everything is OK , fine. If it opens again ,then the cause needs to be found..
Suggest replacing the fuse and see what happens.
