Default So call me crazy

I must be. (Crazy - that is) to even tell you all just how new I am to cars and engines, and such. My husband and I bought our first Ford about a year and a half ago (a Mustang GT 04) We soon realized we had very different opinions about mods. and upgrades, etc. So it was inevitable that we should either get another car (A Mustang GT 09) or a divorce. (Just kidding.) I got the newer car, he got the supercharger. We kept our marriage. (Not kidding.)
Driving these two cars has been a great adventure, that has given me a taste for more. So, now I have an F250 engine in my barn waiting to be torn down. (Maybe it will get rebuilt. (Maybe not.) The purpose, you say? To learn. And learn I will. My goal is to look at a basic engine and it's components and know their names and functions... and who knows what next?
Gotta start somewhere! Why so big a project so soon, you ask? Because I like a challenge, I tend to learn better, hands-on and think it will be just the right amount of fun and frustration to make life interesting.
So my comments and questions will be based on a combination of ignorance and passion. Hope that's not too annoying!

I believe you came to a good place to learn. Those who have been in this trade who think we've seen it all, learn something almost every day. Welcome , and there are some pretty sharp folks on this site that are willing to help and share knowledge and experience.
