I was informed that the battery would be need to be changed by the dealer due to the computer in the vehicle. True? A special device required? I mean it was such a treat to get to it only to be told the dealer should change it

 

They sure don't make things easy these days.

It is true, your vehicle computer has to be notified , via scan tool, that the battery has been changed. If for instance it was charging at a high charging rate, the computer remembers this and can wind up overcharging the new battery and destroying it.
