In 1966 Ford introduced the "magic tailgate" in the Country Squire. They modified it in 1969 for opening and closing with the rear window in different positions. Can anyone tell me when the tailgate that would open sideways or up and down was discontinued?

I don't think the two way gate was discontinued in full size wagons until the wagon itself was cut from production...
