Cool '68 ford f250 360 cu in.

thinking of installing elec. fuel pump on f250 engine. I know once they are installed, and the manual fuel pump has been removed and a plate covers the hole left in the engine block, the elec. pump's job is to fill the carburetor fuel bowl.
1. Once the engine starts, does the elec. pump continue the process? If not, where would the carburetor get its fuel?
2. When the engine is turned off at the ignition switch, does that turn off the elec. fuel pump also or does the elec. fuel pump have to be turned off also from a separate switch inside the cab?
3. if I went this route with a new elec. fuel pump, where would be a good place to install a fuel filter?
some videos say never put the filter anywhere over a hot engine and that makes sense, yet I see them do it all the time. I'm thinking somewhere up on the left fender well or even down on the frame rail.
4, Can anyone recommend a good dependable brand I can buy online without breaking the bank and do they usually come with a plate that I can bolt on over the hole left by the mechanical pump?
Thanks again all. comments here are better than all the videos, although I have learned a lot by watching them.

What would your reason be for the change? The pump would be low pressure supplying about 6-7 psi to the carb. Myself, I wouldn't make such a change unless my cam had a worn down lobe for the mechanical fuel pump. The new pump would have to be wired in such a way that it is energized with the ignition..

The new low pressure pump will have directions with it that would answer your concerns..

Wink elec fuel pump 68 f250 360 v8

Once again. Raski, thanks for the advice. Probably cheaper and easier than the elec. pump route. Was just trying to free up a little space on the driver's side for other equipment I might want to install. But like you, I gotta wonder if it all would be worth it?

thanks again ray77

Hello again Raski
The old 360 I will be working on has a factory ac unit. Have found that I can buy a kit for about $900-$100 which includes under dash air box, all hoses, compressor, brackets. Taking out all of the old unit (including under the dash) is not too much of a problem. I would like to just start fresh, install the new unit and take it somewhere and have it charges with the correct refrigerant. This is and will be a west Texas or Gulf Coast daily driver, so a good ac is pretty much a must. Does this sound like a plan?

thx Ray77
