Default Rear Blinkers/Rear Lights - Going Crazy

99 Ford Windstar - Im driving the other day...and suddenly...I go to make a left turn and the left turn indicator on the dash flashes rapidly and the bulb warning light comes on. Five minutes later...the right turn signal does the same thing. I figure...two bulbs went at once...no big deal. Stopped at the store for two bulbs...when I got out of the car...noticed that the tail lights, the left rear turning light, and lights over the rear licence plate were on and not going out. All remaining illuminated with no blinking. All front lights work fine...even the turn signals. Reverse lights would not come on either. Changed each bulb one at a time....didn't fix the issue. Got it home...now the tail lights, reverse lights, and rear license plate lights stay on. The left rear turn signal now went out. The turn indicators on dash are now blinking at regular speed...but bulb warning light is sill on. Had to disconnect battery. Any ideas ?????

There is a good chance the rear electronic control module is defective. Among the things it controls are the rear lights. Sometimes the module gets into trouble if the module managed to get wet internally with a rear window left open during a rain event. A better thing to do would be to have someone with a capable scan tool verify this, and , also, if it requires replacement it may need to be reconfigured to the vehicle to operate properly.

Thank you...that would make sense because we just had severe wind and rain the day before. Will definitely check into that.
