Might need a new clutch cable.

I went to adjust my clutch cable and I had to use vice grips to hold the cable to adjust it. I am thinking I need a new cable. Where is a good place to buy one? And what is the proper way to adjust the cable?

I seem to remember you have a vintage Aspire and if you cannot locate the cable , you might try ,

my clutch cable fix wasn't permanent enough i had to buy a new one.
