Ford Contour While only built on a short time span, the Contour was very popular with people of all driving styles, from the base model making for a great family car, to the SVT making a great track toy.

Default Hi mount brake light

Hi gals and guys:
If you have a 2nd generation Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique you will probably have a crumbling cover over your high mount brake light. I found that you can use a high mount brake light of a Geo Metro sedan to replace the original.
Most likely you can splice the wires and use the metro light without any alterations. It pops right into the holes in the package tray and you are done.
I took the brake light apart, removed the wiring harness and bulbs, removed the reflectors and put in the Contour's 5 bulb reflector. There was enough slack in the wire to connect the original connector through a hole into the transplanted reflector.

Here is how it looks.
