Did your old radio work correctly? If so then either installed incorrectly or new radio is bad.
You should check for 12V between the power and ground pins for the radio.
If no, check for 12V between the power pin and the battery ground terminal, then check for 12V between the ground pin and the battery positive terminal.
The key must be turned to on during this test.
If you don't have one, invest in a cheap voltmeter (Multimeter) or test light and you can save yourself a lot of time and trouble..
Many times attempting to install an additional accessory according to colors is not always right. If the directions tell you which wire of the radio does what, you are working blind if you are not positive which wires in your hand coming from the vehicle are for what.
It's a 2004 crown Victoria police interceptor. It didn't have a stereo when I bought it but it had the stereo connector hanging out dash. I bought a new one and hooked it up to the stereo and it still isn't getting any power. The stereo has 1 orange wire for illumination and the connector has 1 orange wire for illumination positive and one wire for illumination negative. That's the only other problem I can think of
Keep in mind there needs to be power available to the radio all the time to maintain clock/ station memory. Were you able to confirm power was available all the time to the radio?
Make sure ground is available also since a lot of mounts involve plastic.
I'm unable to get power to the radio at all. The wiring harness to the stereo isn't getting any power. I checked the fuse and it was blown so i replaced it and I'm still not getting any power
Here is the power/ground diagram for the crown vic. Check if there is continuity to the correct battery terminal for each of the pins.
The first picture is the base radio diagram. The second picture is the Alpine radio diagram. The third and fourth pictures are the connectors in the diagrams.
You should be able to look at the factory radio connector to determine which radio you have. I would assume cop cars have the base radio but cant say for sure.
