1998 E150 with p0401 code
Many thanks again to Hanky for the last help with my cylinder 5 misfire. Got that fixed but the other code i was getting returned. P0401 code. 4.6L Triton V8. 200k miles.
I see most recommend cleaning EGR vavle, possibly a dpfe something or other. Any chance i can get some advice on what to do here, where this thing even is?
Searching videos and see a lot for F150's but not sure that i would find it in the same place on my E150.

man, i appreciate all the help Hanky, but i am kinda afraid to dive in to this one. Still not even sure where the EGR is and i couldnt find much on that site you offered. Maybe im not looking in the right place.
Tempted to bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic, but im being told up to $200 just to diagnose the 0401 code. Anyone got any more advice on where to start with this? I udnerstand it could be many things, not just possibly the EGR valve being clogged up.

It never hurts to aquire as much info as possible before attempting what could be a simple procedure. There are sites that show what the part looks like plus what it does and what to watch for when replacing them. The DPFE sensor does use some hi temp hoses (short pieces) that if clogged or damaged would have to be replaced. If you get the parts together before starting the replacement , you should have everything you need to complete it without any surprises. You can do it ! The sensor is usually in an easy to get to location.
