Default 2006 E150 Chateau with 5.4. Harmonic Balancer/Crank Pulley Replacement

I have to replace the Crank Pulley/Harmonic Balancer on this E150 due to rubber separation. I cannot find any videos specific to this vehicle. Pulley and balancer is one piece. Suggestions? Special tools?

I believe something is not right with the drawings and item descriptions.

Might want to recheck.

This is what should be considered when replacing the crank pulley,

Take your VIN to a dealership parts dept and engine certification info if available on one of the valve covers and with that info you should get the CORRECT crank pulley and bolt.. The reason for doing it this way is, changes are made from year to year and sometimes mid-year and only FORD knows all this info.
It is critical to obtain the correct pulley since timing can be affected.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Would you also have the ALLDATA print for removal of the fan? Haynes manual is not great.

I've replaced enough water pumps and if I recall correctly, lol, you will need to remove the fan shroud too.
It is a little tight to get the bolts off that hold the fan to the water pump. Make sure you mark the fan blade so it goes back on blowing in the right direction.
If you remove the 4 bolts that hold the fan clutch to water pump, job gets a lot easier, fan, clutch and assy come out all at once.
The job can become a PITA if you don't have the right tools to remove the old pulley from the crankshaft..
It is always a good idea to lay out the parts you remove in some order so you install everything in the right order. That way you can concentrate on what you are doing instead of trying to remember everything.
You should use a pulley puller tool or you can wind up wishing you never started the job.

If you were my customer, I would suggest you replace the water pump while everything is apart if it has never been replaced before. Don't know miles on it, but if original,it has been on there for approx 18 years and you don't want to do all this again,,,or do you ?
I forgot to suggest you make a diagram of how the belt is routed if there is no diagram in the engine compartment.

A little tip, place a piece of cardboard against the radiator so you don't damage the fins and interfere with it's cooling ability, saves your knuckles too !

Yeah. . I agree. I have owned this since new in the fall of 05 (06 model). 277K. The van is a Chateau (factory with captain chairs and rear bench. I have done the front end maintenance (all BJoints, shocks, rotor hubs etc) at least 4 times. Had the dealer replace the AC system (F and R) 4 years ago due to a failed compressor that distributed metal throughout the system. I am on the 3rd transmission (factory and 2 remanufactured). Just did the belt and tensioner. Plugs and coils a couple months ago (took front seats out for easier access to the rear 4 plugs). Have done the vacuum canister rerouting modification and also replaced the stupid air diverter door on the rear AC unit at least 3 times. All that to say we STILL love the van and it is pristine. Oil changes every 5000 plus a qt of lucas oil pure synthetic each time. Uses no oil and no leaks.

Now, the water pump has never been replaced and I am losing about 1/2 pint of coolant a month. I am going to do a coolant UV dye test before I do the harmonic balancer. I did not realize that I could get the fan and clutch assembly out as a single unit by removing the 4 pulley bolts! Great Idea!

Everyone says they hate working of E series vans! BUT, I have enjoyed and cursed it. I also have a 2007 Ford Edge that I bought new and it has 288K miles with a similar service history as the van I did get surprised a month ago when the power steering went out and I discovered that some engineer thought that it would be a great idea to have a SEPARATE Stretch belt (never changed since new) to power the power steering pump. Changing that was a job. While I was there, I replaced the Serpentine belt and tensioner belt as well. The belt had been changed twice before.
