Air Conditioner
I have a 2000 E250 cargo/work van 5.4 that has an A/C issue. The ac works, air is cool, everything seems to work but the air does not come out of the vents fast/hard.I relaced the ac control relay? last year(it has a curled spring doo hickey that had rust build up on it and is located on the firewall behind the battery) I was told that could be the problem. This was like near the Fall of the year but in Georgia it is very hot now and it does not blow as I thought it was so now I am looking for more information on what my problem could be.Thanks
Hi Jim,
This is what I would do,
Remove the blower motor and leave the wires plugged in and see just what the motor does. Held in your hand when turned to hi speed , that thing should blow like crazy. If not , after it stops check to see if it is really free to turn the squirrel cage wheel. It should spin freely. If not, bearings could be dry or just time for a new motor.
With that out of the way motor still out and in your hand , do the speeds correspond to the settings of the blower motor switch.?
If all OK, what we need to confirm is that the blower box assy doors are working. If all that is OK, I would try to get a look at the AC Evap core to make sure it is not full of dust and stuff restricting the flow of air. You can usually do this when the blower motor is out. Let us know what you find, thanks.
