Default E450 Electrical glitch

About one year ago, our 2005 Ford e450 (v10) motorhome periodically started electrically glitching in that the the turn signals would stop flashing (i.e., arrow light stays on constant without blinking) if you turned on the headlights (btw - the vehicle has daytime running lamps, which seem to be working fine / not causing any problems) or applied the brakes. I also noticed that the cruise control would cancel if you turned on the signals, as well. And if you did use the signals successfully, they would be dim (however, my trailer lights were bright/good). Furthermore, the led dash lamps (eg, odometer) would dim with the use of the turn signals (or if you turned on the headlamps) Oddly, I could turn off the engine, re-start it, and the problem would go away. I did check the rear tail light bulbs and they were all good.

This went on for a year, and then last weekend, it permanently glitched out on us... Thankfully, we weren't stranded b/c we traveled in the daylight and didn't need anything other than the turn signals (which are nice and bright on the trailer). I checked the bulbs again (popped them out and re-installed, just to be sure) and still good... Any ideas, please?

C'mon, some one must have an opinion, at least... I've also noticed that we do not have working back-up lights on the vehicle. I'm speculating it's in the cruise somewhere that ties in to the lights???

Thanks for looking, in any case.

Something you might look into. The fuse panel located in the left side of the dash has been known to get exposed to water intrusion from a leaking windshield. When this condition exists all sorts of crazy things happen and many defy explanation. A good close inspection for any type of corrosion where the fuses go and also behind the panel may possibly be the cause of the unexplained behavior of the signal, dash lamps and possibly some other unknowns . Sometimes just removing and reinstalling the fuses will remedy the problem temporarily. If that is the case windshield leak repair and panel replacement is usually the best cure. If it's not too much trouble let us know what you find. Also, make sure all the ground connections you can see are clean and tight. Many can look good, but the only sure way is to remove them, clean them and reinstall them and place a coating of dielectric grease over them. Even vasoline is better than nothing.

Thanks Hanky - I'll take a look and let you know what I learn.
