Default intake air temperature sensor

1)intake air temperature sensor connector shows 40° when checking the connector, 170° when jumping the connector when using the code scanner, repair manual says that shows the air temperature sensors bad
2)using the multimeter with ignition on engine off the connector shows near 5v so that's good, the repair manual says to shut off the ignition then test the connector again and should be about 5v, tried that, but the multimeter shows just about .6v(.6v not 6v), the manual says that shows there's an issue with the intake air temperature sensor
would the repair manual be correct or incorrect and how can we test the connector to make sure the connector and wiring's good(we just put in a good intake air temperature sensor)

Don't know where you obtained the replacement part, but if made over seas, being polite, get an American made sensor. There is a lot of imported junk being sold at discount stores these days. Some on line places also send JUNK.

Your sensor doesn't use fiber optic cable, just electrical wires so you can run 2 jumper wires to the sensor in place of the factory connector. You just need to figure out where the other end goes. When a sensor like IAT or MAF with the element tip, that needs to be cleaned using MAF cleaner routinely, like once a year.
