Etinpa. That's a really great explanation. I tried what you said but I couldn't hear the solenoid. I'll try again sometime.

You are correct... I forgot where I was posting.

It works as I described on my Lincoln Town Car. On the E-Series, the lock works the same (preventing the shift lever from moving toward the steering wheel) but the solenoid is disabled when the shift lever is moved out of park, not when the shift lever is pulled toward the steering wheel.
