Hello all,
I just retrieved my RV from the shop with a new / re-manufactured engine and found this bracket broken (and covered up with JB Weld and black RTV).
I am trying to get them to replace the bracket since they broke it. They're telling me it was already cracked. Chances are they'll refuse to do the job without charging me for it and at this point I'm not certain I really want them working on it anymore, know what I mean?
Attached are photos of my vehicle's broken bracket and what I believe to be the correct replacement. It appears to me that there are three long bolts securing it to the head in addition to the one that is in the broken tab at the water pump.
My question is, are those three bolts sufficient to do the job or is that last bolt on the water pump really necessary?
I've been told that the 'missing' bolt will allow the belt to become misaligned and wear out MUCH faster than normal.
Also, is this bracket the same on the pick up as the van?
Give me some experienced opinions, please and thank you!
If you tried a dealership parts dept they might be able to tell you which years used that bracket mounting and it might be available for a newer year .and be the same bracket.
Another place to try could be a salvage yard
Another could be ; Vintage Parts Inc.
