Default Steering Column Swap

I have a 1990 Ford Econoline E150 Clubwagon automatic, shifter on the column. I need to change out the complete steering column. It is loose like someone has been using it as a handle to get into the van and is loose to the left side. The left signal light does not work (well it does if you hold the lever down) and the ignition is messed up. It has the E4OD and the indicator shows PRND21. It has tilt and cruise.
Can a person use a column from a Ford truck or does anyone know what the interchangable is for the steering columns? I know the exact unit is the years 1982-1991
I'm in Canada and there has been nothing in the autowreckers for almost two years and nothing on the used parts system Canada wide for two years. Its been hard to find the E4OD.

I could send to California for a rebuild but holy molly its almost $1500 cdn by the time its done, the same price I paid for the whole van.
Thank for any replies.

You must be very careful not to overextend the clockspring under the steering wheel.
If that happens the cruise control may not work.
The 90s vintage were good vehicles if properly maintained.
Have you considered repairing your present column ? I'm kinda curious as to why it has so much slop in the upper part of the column. There is a bearing up there and possibly something got loose. Suggest you try a few places like ;

Vintage Parts Inc
located in Beaver Dam, Wisc.

You may be able to use parts from a newer year, and a Ford dealership parts dept. should be able to tell you what years will work.

If you are able, you might consider opening it up to see just what is broken.and repair it yourself. You will need a special tool to get in there to help because of the tilt feature.
