Not according to the detailed invoices ( under warranty ) I received.

 

Well next stage in the saga. The dealer and Ford have decided to change the fuel tank. There seems to be a lot of valves etc. in the tank and fuel line and they suspect one or more of them are not working properly. Hopefully this has been solved. I must say that the dealer and Ford Canada have given excellent service for a difficult and sporadic problem.

I would be reasonably sure the problem was inside the fuel tank, and not controlled by the PCM.

Soooooooooooo,,,, why did a PCM attempt correct a problem the PCM has no control over ?

 

Well, Ford had a service bulletin saying that reprogramming of the PCM COULD correct the problem so they obviously tried that first.

 

Replacing the fuel tank seems to have solved the problem. Refueling is much smoother and fast. I suspect the original fuel tank was defective from day 1.
It took awhile ( it really was an unusual problem ) but the dealer ( and Ford who gave the OK to the dealer to replace the tank under warranty ) gave very good service.

I really like the Edge. A friend has an Escape and it is inferior in virtually every way ( my friend agrees .)
