Default 2001 escape water pump

I just bought an 01 escape with the 3 liter engine, automatic trans and AWD. It also has 92K miles. I am wondering at what point I should replace the water pump as a preventative measure. Also, how difficult is that project?

If you have the time and money, now is as good a time as any. Difficulty is dependent upon your level of skill............ hanky

Default 2001 escape water pump

Thanks for your answer. What I am really trying to find out is does Ford have a recommended mileage point to replace the pump.

Stop in at your nearest Ford dealer and ask them. They see more of those models than most other places. If it is giving any hint of upcoming failure like noise than we replace it as a preventive before it lets go completely. Other than that if you want to prevent a possible problem up the road, replace it now. Just keep in mind a new pump is usually more reliable than a rebuilt one.
