Default 2020 Escape SEL Poor Gas Mileage

I have almost 17K miles on my Escape. I rarely get over 20 mpg in city driving, and not a lot better on the highway. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? So many owners on Facebook report mileage in the high 20s, and into the 30's.

Thanks for any input.

Since it's still covered under warranty, I would have your dealer check it out . No need for you to incur any costs and spend your time doing diagnostic work.

For what it's worth, probably little, I am collecting mileage comments from Facebook owners driving in similar terrain with the same engine. I will take that with me to the dealer along with my spreadsheet of my actual mileage. So far, the dealer, whom I consider a good one, has said " no check engine light", no problem.

That's not a good assumption by your dealer. Dragging brakes, a transmission issue and an under performing engine which is not severe enough to set a code are possibilities.

How the vehicle is driven has a lot to do with what kind of MPG.

Easy start offs from a stop, tire air pressure, driving habits, how much extra weight is the vehicle carrying around are some of the easy things to look over.

Having been a safety check driver , little things like a slightly heavy foot on the accelerator , jack rabbit starts , coasting to a stop when possible are some of the many things overlooked that can have an influence on MPG. It is not always the vehicle that causes poor mileage.
