The check engine light has come on and I need to get the car inspected by the end of the month.
P0446: Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit.
Changed the gas cap back to the original (had an aftermarket locking cap on there), but no luck. Looked under the car near the gas tank and noticed really rusty connections between the fuel filter and fuel lines. Here's a pic.
I jiggled the rusty parts and some fuel squirted out for a few seconds. I guess I need to replace those two parts (the one on the other side of the fuel filter looked just as bad).
Does anyone know what the part is referred as? I looked on ebay under "fuel filter connector" and found nothing.
Also, does this appear to be something that would trigger that code?
The part in your pix should not have anything to do with the code.
Parts like that are strictly a "Dealer Item". . I would suggest starting with a dealer parts dept and if not available, next best bet is a salvage yard. That line is under pressure just about ALL the time and is an accident waiting to happen. If you do find what you need , watch out for the "Tan O' Rings " inside that connector. They are special for unleaded fuel. I wouldn't be too concerned about the code right now because you can't drive the vehicle in it's present condition until the leak is fixed.
