Dies while driving 2010 Ford Escape XLT
This is puzzling my local mechanic and me.
Was driving through an intersection, accelerating when suddenly the car died.
2010 Ford Escape XLT 144,000 miles. (I've owned it last 4 years. Driven maybe 3,000 miles per year while I owned it 2 oil changes a year -
New battery one year ago)
Looked at dash and battery light was on (solid). Was not on prior to car dying.
Turned car off. Restarted and I could hear the car trying to turn over and then I expected
it to start. Instead silence and the battery light back on.
Tried several more times - same result. Had it towed to my mechanic.
Upon arrival tow truck driver tried turning it on and it started. Turned it off and back on. No problem.
Mechanic let it set for the day and tried it the next day (Today) - no problem. Started.
Mechanic said:
Battery is good.
Alternator is good.
No errors.
Going to let it sit at the mechanic until Monday when he will try it again.
The car died around 11 am. I had been driving it with lots of stops since around 8 am. (probably 7 stops).
Gave no indication of any problems prior to having the car die while driving.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I am going out on a limb assuming you mean a cranking problem.
I would start with removing and cleaning battery terminal connections. Then do the same for each and every connection working your way towards the starter. That includes all grounds. After that if needed, load testing of the battery and starter. I am suspicious of the starter. They can be intermittent where batteries usually are not.
