Help! Dipstick length for 2013 Ford Escape SE? True oil capacity?
The manual for my 2013 says that my 2013 Ford Escape 2013 (1.6 liter engine) is 4.3 quarts (with oil filter change).
I've taken my car to Jiffy Lube, and they acknowledged that it requires 4.3 quarts. But they overfilled it!
The next oil change, I took my car to the Ford dealer. Surely they can do it right. But they also overfilled it!
Then I did the oil change myself. I carefully drained the warmed engine for a couple of hours. I carefully filled it with exactly 4.3 quarts of oil using a measuring cup and installed a new filter. That also overfilled it!
I cannot imagine what the problem can be. I can't be the only one this is happening to.
It just occurred to me that, maybe the previous owner put a different dip stick in (that is too long). Does anybody know how long the dipstick is for this vehicle? Or where I can find out?
Any advice, suggestions, etc. are appreciated! Thank you!

I have a 2017 ford escape and the 4.3 quarts is the total amount it holds, as in if there isn't a drop in the engine, You should change engine oil when the engine is warm but not hot, or after waiting about 10 minutes after running the engine. A warm engine allows the oil to flow and drain more quickly and completely, and it also helps to keep contaminants suspended so they are more likely to be drained with the old oil. However, you must allow the engine to cool slightly to avoid burns and ensure an accurate reading if you were to check the oil level. , also when you are supposed to check the oil) some of that 4.3 quarts of oil is still in the bottom of the engine, that is why when you put in the 4.3 quarts it's showing it's "over filled"... Hope this helps?
About the oil- When you change the oil in an engine, it's normal for some oil to remain in the engine; typically, one to two quarts can stay behind, meaning that out of 4.3 quarts added, about 2.3 to 3.3 quarts would remain in the engine. This leftover oil is held in areas like the oil filter, oil pan, and internal engine components, and it will not prevent the engine from functioning correctly.
This is from Google on the dipstick-
The exact length of the oil dipstick for a 2013 Ford Escape isn't a universally published number, as it's a part of the vehicle, not a separate item with a standard length, but a properly functional dipstick is approximately 18.5 inches long for most Ford vehicles from that era, though it will vary by exact engine and model year. To determine your exact length, you can compare a clean dipstick against a tape measure, placing the tape measure under the dipstick's shoulder and extending it to its full length.
