Had my 07 Escape wired for a utility trailer using the 4 prong connector. Bought a used utility trailer. Hooked up the lights...everything worked fine.First time out with the trailer,couple miles down the road noticed the left turn signal was not flashing. Back home, replaced bulb....everything OK. Next time out a few miles down the road, same thing...no left turn signal.Decided something was wrong with the trailer. No big deal. Now the problem.. Bought a pop up camper...had it wired by the dealer using the 7 point round connector...the one for lights , brakes , battery etc....... first time out with the camper.........30 miles up the road.........you guessed it ....NO left turn signal..... I did realize after disconnecting the plug and/or turning off the vehicle for a few minutes , the turn signal worked fine. Decided must be a tow vehicle issue and it was trippng something and then resetting itself.Its not a blown fuse. Turn signal never goes out without a trailer. Any ideas before I take it back to the dealer or somewhere for $ervice?

 

Does it loose 'both' front and rear turn lamps? when acting up...Meaning no lamp function/s or continuous on when selected..

 

Looking up the wiring schematic, the vehicle 'turns' are different wire colors/circuits out of the SJB (Smart Junction Box) than the trailer/camper adaptersconnector 'feed' wires for both right/left.. Can you tell if the trailer connections were done at the rear harness/light harness and/or see the wire colors tapped into? .

 

FOLLOW UP ON THIS PROBLEM........foot on brake first, then blinker, otherwise the vehicle senses some sort of "electrical load" issue........did the foot on the brake first deal, camping this weekend , and IT WORKED RIGHT EVERY TIME.......... out with the utility trailer that had the same problem as the camper......foot on brake first............turn signal worked every time !!!
