Low ICE Mileage
I drive a 2022 Escape Phev and drive electric over 90% of the time. I lost track of my ICE miles but suspect they are under 1500 miles for the year. Do I really need to replace the oil at the 12th month even if the mileage is so low. FYI synthetic oil. Paying for the oil is no issue and since I believe the oil will be recycled I should not
question the 12 month oil life that most manufacturers recommend.

We normally try to do everything we can to extend the longevity of engines.
Oil doesn't degrade by mileage alone, so cheap insurance to change oil and filter as recommended.
I really would not want to find out if my high voltage battery needed charging and the ICE developed a problem out in the middle of nowhere and couldn't charge the battery so I could get home. Not sure what kind of road service gets provided to charge the big battery if the ICE cannot other than flatbed/tow.
