Default trans hesitation

My 09 escape hesitates before it engages into reverse. Not a huge wait but longer than any other vehicle I have owned. Any one else have this problem?

No change either hot or cold. Not sure what lo-rev piston seal cut means.

the first thing to check is the fluid level when it's warm to see if it's full. if not fill it and see if it goes into gear a little faster and when it does go into gear does go into reverse does it shift hard or give your head a slight jerk?

Trans fluid is full and when the shift happens it is always a soft shift. Seemed to me it was a low fluid problem but this is not the case.

If it happens all the times then it's likely the 35R circuit check ball blowing through the plate. Eventually you will lose reverse or have partial reverse and possible missing 3rd and 5th gear if the check ball blows through the separator plate to the other side. I can post pics tonight if you are going to pull valvebody.

Thanks for the offer but that would be way beyond my mech. abilities. I still have over two years of extended warranty. I hope it blows up before that.

For what this is worth.
I agree with the suggestions offered, however, consider this.
Even with the warranty you may have, if the vehicle develops addl problems and now requires towing ,sure, the bill and work might be covered, but what about the inconvenience and trouble waiting for a tow truck, possibly missing an appointment and whatever else could take place, is it not better to make an appointment to have it checked out and repaired at your convenience ?
