My 94 escort has a strange problem. It started last week. It wouldn't shift out of second and it would wind the rpm way up. However, sometimes it would work fine. Here is the strange part. If it starts out driving fine, it stays fine. It only happens sometimes after having parked it. I might get in it today and it will be fine. A friend suggested adding Lucas Transaxle additive and I did but it didn't seem to do any good.

Any suggestions?

 

Is there any way you can find to see if there are any codes in the ECM ?
