95 and possible tranmission probelm
I just bought a 95 1.9 liter off a person and I have had it about a month, it ran really good until about 4 days ago I was going up a hill and the thing just slipped out of gear and I could not go foward and it overheated really quick.
After I pushed it off the road and it cooled down a while I pushed it so it would face downhill and I cranked it up and it drove fine, but I won't go up a hill anymore.
I checked the fluid level and its fine and doesn't smell burnt or look brown, the car has 90,240 miles on it. I called the guy that sold it to me and he said he changed the fluid about a month before I bought it and of course he also said oh wow it's never gave me any problems before.
Should I do a transmission flush and filter change or maybe just change the fluid and add some bars leak ATF repair and see what happens?

What overheated, engine or trans?
Part of a thorough diagnosis includes, does it do anything in the other ranges like Low, L2 ,or Reverse? If you apply the brake will it still attempt to move strongly when cold? (This is a 2 second check , don't burn it up checking.) I have heard of instances where adding a small amount of additional trans fluid solved a similiar problem where there just wasn't enough fluid available when climbing a hill. Let us know the answers if you can. Thanks, hanky
