Default 96 Escort electrical Problems

I am going to get right into it. The radio stopped working after a rain storm so I went out to check the wiring and found that the turning signals, hazard lights, running lights and brake lights stopped working as well. High and low beams work fine so do the wipers. Before all this the battery wouldn't hold a charge but now it does??.. If anyone could lead me to a answer I would greatly appreciate it.

There is no doubt an answer, but Without actually looking at the vehicle , well, at this point it's the crystal ball trick.
Would suggest you check the fuses that control those functions, if unknown, check all of them.
Most of the functions you named are controlled by the multi-function switch on the steering column. I can't make the connection with those functions and the running lights except for a possible ground connection problem.
Why the battery is performing OK now is a mystery.

Thanks for the reply. Im going to check my grounds then pull the MFS and hit it with some Wd-40 As for the battery drain, Im almost certain there is a faulty wire causing the problem. The car has been sitting for 4 years that I know of. Ill keep you all posted as I make progress

Not knowing where the car was resting there is always the possibility of visitors taking advantage of a nice secure home and chewing on wires. If that battery sat for 4 years and was never charged , it's running on borrowed time. Thanks for the update.

it would be a safe bet that a few wires have been chewed up.
