My sister purchased a CPO 2018 Platinum (white) in Oct. ‘20 with ~45k miles.
A couple times on local/small roads the vehicle suddenly lost power but she didn’t think much of it. After the 3rd instance she took it to her local guy and he couldn’t find anything wrong.
About 2 weeks ago on the highways around Chicago it happened in the left lane at speed and in heavy traffic…scared her BADLY. The vehicle coasted down to about 40mph and just as suddenly the power came back and she was able to make it home. At this point she got me involved and I directed her to take it to the dealer (luckily still inside the 5yr/60k power train window).
Dealer confirms it is a transmission issue and said Ford’s “help desk” acknowledges the problem and confirms “6 or 7 other cases“ but “currently there’s no remedy” that they are “comfortable giving out to the Ford technicians” but they are "working on a published repair but they don't have a repair available for it at this time"🤦♂️ .
The tech who did all the work unequivocally said the vehicle is unsafe "for you and anyone around you" and said the next step was to "set up a case with Ford" and "get you a long term loaner and that should take a day"...
...and after 2-days of non-returned phone calls my sister went over there Wednesday afternoon and the Service Manager trotted out and said there was nothing he can do and tried to get her to take the truck home as is ...stiffed her on the loaner vehicle promise too.
I did open a case directly with Ford and it has been assigned to a person there but I haven't spoke with him yet.
.I prefer to get along but am ready to go to the mat on this one because of the way the dealer has whipsawed my sister around. In my opening gambit I gave them the chance to be the "good guy" in a scenario where we team up and push on Ford together, but they just couldn't wrap their mind around that. All communication has been cordial but they don't want to help.
If anyone has similar experiences to share or other thoughts I'd really appreciate the input/feedback.
