Default 2020 Expedition - no loaners

15k miles on my 2020 Expy. Driving and feel a strong rumble. Check engine light. Warning on my app says transmission shift issue. Dealer in another state (we were on vacation) says to turn truck off, open driver door and wait 15 min. Sure enough that worked. Got an appt with my home dealer - they plug it in and say they are worried it may be drive or power train issue and they need to keep it a couple of weeks. NO LOANER; NO Rent Car!
I know things break and it’s under warranty. But leaving me without a vehicle for two weeks is unacceptable. Other dealers in the area are the same. I had a similar issue in the truck several months ago and the dealer (a different one) kept it 5 days. Service mgr said he used to have 75 loaners and now has 5. Blamed it in Ford corporate.
Did Ford make a change in paying dealers for a loaner program?

A lot of times the program probably was abused and therefore was changed.

Loaner cars do not make money. With supply chain issues and a shortage of cars, dealers probably had to sell them off just to survive.

I agree - they are a money loser/cost of business. But the “foreign” dealers seem to all have them available so my next purchase will not be a Ford (or Chevy). And Ford will miss another sale due to bad service. And lose more money.

I don't think they care.
