Is this non-shift normal?
Hi everyone,
New to the site but I didn’t find anything on my special situation. I have a 2010 Ex EL, 5.4 auto, and when I put the truck in drive, I cannot drop it to neutral without depressing the shift lock. Every other vehicle I’ve ever owned can shift between N and D without depressing the release, including my 2001 Excursion and a newer 2017 Nissan. A caveat, this truck was a gov surplus purchase so it could be an additional safety feature, but my local dealership never heard of this scenario before. I tow a large trailer on occasion and want the added safety for sudden stops.
Anyone heard of this before and can it be reversed, or is it a “feature” I’m lucky enough to have? Thanks in advance.
