The “o/d off” message began flashing on my dashboard. I did a computer check and got a PO 756 code and the solenoid #2 is in the off position. I went ahead and replaced all of the solenoids in the transmission but I still get the same code. Any suggestions on what I should do next?

 

There are other possible things to check like the Park/neutral switch on the trans, trans control module and wiring to the trans.

 

I checked all the fuses associated with the trans and PCM. They’re all fine. No loose nor frayed wires in engine nor trans. I swapped out PCMs for a 1998 Ford Explorer but now it won’t start. I guess I’ll swap back for the old one. I haven’t tried the suggestions Hanky made yet since they all involve getting under and removing stuff and I’m a novice mechanic.

 

Anyone happen to know if a transmission from a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer would fit my 1996 Ford Explorer?
